Namaste!
Welcome to Kanha National Park!
India boasts many beauteous locations, and Kanha National Park, located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, is renowned for its breathtaking natural splendor. The park was created in 1955 to preserve the unique ecosystem, which is a community of
coexisting biotic and abiotic factors. The forests of the Banjar and Halong valleys form the western and eastern halves of the Kanha Tiger Reserve, an area which extends over an area of 940 square kilometers. You will have the opportunity to experience the Kanha Tiger Safari, conducted both in the early morning and evening. The safari covers the stretch of Kanha’s habitat and offers fantastic sightings of tigers, leopards, jungle cats, barasinghas, black deer, and other mammals. In addition to these magnificent creatures, Kanha’s distinctive flora should be on every visitor’s ‘must see’ list. The sal and bamboo forests stretch over the park, along with rolling grasslands and meandering streams. Lush meadows, along with tranquil lowland and highland forests, revive one’s love for nature. The diversity of vegetation is a result of the varying altitudes within the park, which create several biomes. A biome is a large, naturally occurring community of flora and fauna—plant and animal life, respectively—occupying a major habitat.
To add some more color to the vibrant scenery you must be imagining by now think of Bamni Dadar, or Sunset Point. From here, a most spectacular sunset can be witnessed, and many different animals can be sighted. It is no wonder that the luxuriance of this park was the physical setting of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. In fact, Kipling lived in the Kanha jungle for years to write the book, which was published in 1894. Now, accommodation is available outside the park, and jeeps are available for hire. The park can be reached by air, train, and by road. The recommended visiting season is between February and June, and a stay of at least three nights is advised to ensure the chance of seeing the more elusive animals. Regardless, whether you stay for a single hour or several years, Kanha National Park will leave you with memories that will never become extinct.
